Making a welcome return to Bailieboro, The Man Who Wanted To Fly will mark a timely celebration for Bobby Coote’s 90th birthday.

Sunday 6th September at 3pm

Since its premiere at Galway Film Fleadh in 2018, the film has charmed audiences all over the world, picking up a total of 26 international awards.

Bobby’s remarkable journey sets out from Dromore, taking us to Maudabawn, Belfast and beyond. Assisted by his good friends and collaborators, Sean MacBride and Dessie O’Brien, it will be a bittersweet pleasure to see Ernie Coote, Bobby’s older brother, on the big screen once again. Ernie, who passed away two years ago, endeared himself to thousands of cinemagoers over the last eight years. This Courthouse presentation will be a fitting tribute to a mischievous and much-missed rascal known for his warm, gentle wit.

Filmed by Dave Perry, directed by Frank Shouldice, edited by Emer O’Clery, with an original score by Giles Packham, the filmmakers are delighted to bring this unique Cavan documentary back to where the adventure first started.
